Welcome
to the shores of Lake Chapala, Mexico -- land of sunshine
and mild temperatures -- commonly referred to as the "Land
of Eternal Spring". Thousands of retirees from the United
States, Canada and many other parts of the world live here either
full- or part-time. Many from "north of the border"
escape the winter doldrums OR the extreme southern heat at various
times of the year.
Ajijic, located in a mountain valley (part of
Mexico's Sierra Madre Mountains) is a quaint Mexican village located in the
state of Jalisco, on the northern shore of Lake Chapala.
Ajijic
(ah-hee-HEEK) is located forty minutes south of the city of Guadalajara
(30 minutes from Hidalgo International Airport).
Ajijic is a friendly town where native artisans mix with visitors
from diverse corners of the world and the cost of living is reasonable.
Discover the pleasures of this
charming village with its cobblestone streets, many of which were
laid during the days of Spanish rule around 1523 A.D. Walk down any
street and you will see a cascade of flowers gracing stone walls
that hide magnificent homes--you never know what you may find until
you "peak behind the walls".
Ajijic is situated at an altitude of 1470
meters (5,200 feet); the sun shines daily and the mean temperature
is 24ºC (75º Fahrenheit).
